Can Hypnotherapy help with anxiety

Can Hypnotherapy help with anxiety

Yes, hypnotherapy can help with anxiety in several ways.

It can help you to:

  • Increase relaxation and calmness. The hypnosis part of hypnotherapy can help you to access a state of deep relaxation, which can help reduce stress and anxiety. This is because when you are relaxed, your body produces fewer stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline.
  • Change your thoughts and beliefs. Hypnotherapy can help you to identify and change the negative thoughts and beliefs that contribute to your anxiety. We do this in several ways, we discuss the brain and how anxiety is created, we use positive talking therapy, and learn tools to empty our stress bucket. We also use hypnosis, to help calm & relax the mind, and rewire our brains so we can remove negative, & unhelpful thoughts & beliefs. This can be done by using guided imagery and suggestions to help you develop more positive and helpful ways of thinking.
  • Develop coping skills. Hypnotherapy can help you to develop coping skills for dealing with anxiety, such as deep breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and positive affirmations.
  • Solution focused hypnotherapy uses positive talking therapy, we don’t focus on the past or what has caused you to feel anxious, we focus on the present & the future, and focus on what we can do to make us feel calm & relaxed
  • Solution focused hypnotherapy uses hypnosis, neuroscience, CBT, NLP, positive talking therapy, to help reduce stress & anxiety.
  • Solution focused hypnotherapy also teaches & provides tools for the future, so when we face challenging situations and parts of our life we are equipped with the tools to successfully deal with them.

There are different types of anxiety. Here are some specific ways in which hypnotherapy can help with different types of anxiety:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Hypnosis can help people with GAD to reduce their overall level of anxiety and worry. It can also help them to identify and manage the triggers for their anxiety.

  • Social anxiety disorder. Hypnosis can help people with social anxiety disorder to feel more comfortable in social situations. It can also help them to develop better social skills.

  • Phobias. Hypnosis can help people with phobias to overcome their fear of specific objects or situations.

  • Performance anxiety. Hypnosis can help people with performance anxiety to reduce their fear of public speaking or performing in front of others. It can also help them to improve their focus and concentration.

It is important to note that hypnotherapy is not a quick fix for anxiety. It takes time and effort to see results from hypnotherapy. However, many people find that it is a very effective treatment for anxiety.

Usually I recommend 8 – 12 sessions for anxiety, however, everyone is different, some people may require less, some people more.
