What To Expect
Initial Consultation – Break Through Session
We start your hypnotherapy sessions with your breakthrough session. This is an initial consultation, where we will spend the time discussing the reason you are seeking hypnotherapy, how you would like it to help you, and what you hope to gain out of the sessions. This is the only time where we talk about the past, and how it might be impacting you. I’ll then take down some basic information from you.
We will then spend some time talking about the brain, where I will share with you how the brain works and give you an insight into why you are feeling as you do, and what we can do about it. This provides the foundation for the continued mind management techniques that you will learn throughout your sessions. The breakthrough session is usually when clients have a ‘light bulb’ moment and become excited about how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help them.
I will then give you an overview of how we would proceed in the hypnotherapy sessions, including the trance process, which is a far more common experience than most think. I talk about our use of trance during hypnotherapy sessions and how it is a very ordinary state that we find ourselves in several times a day.
At this point I would ensure you understand the process, and we would discuss your commitment, including an agreed approximate number of sessions you would need. I would also give you a link to my relaxation download.
At this point you can decide if you feel comfortable and wish to proceed with subsequent sessions, however there is no pressure to make a decision at the consultation, it is a big commitment and I want you to feel completely happy with your decision to proceed.
The session lasts approximately 60 minutes.

Subsequent Sessions
These appointments follow the Breakthrough Session. They are usually made up of 25 minutes of positive communication, followed by 25 minutes of trance (hypnosis).
We will we discuss your progress and recap on your ultimate goal. You will talk about the positive things that have happened in your week, things that have made you feel good & smile.
We will focus on solutions only, and will not dwell on any negatives. I will then help you to imagine the future you envisage, a future where you have a positive perspective on life, where you can think of all there is to look forward to.
I will teach you what is going on in your mind, and the latest neuroscience. I make it easy to understand. This gives you skills for life, to understand what is going on in your own mind.
Once the talking therapy part is completed I will guide you through a relaxing journey of Hypnosis where I will guide you through some lovely visualization and relaxation exercises, where you can let your mind and imagination drift & dream, to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with a calm, relaxed mind.
When we are in a hypnotic trance we can be more responsive to indirect suggestion, helping to alleviate negative thought patterns. It is very common for us to achieve a hypnotic state several times a day for example when we are engrossed in a tv programme, when driving etc. The trance session is hugely relaxing and helps you feel positive and confident and ready to embrace the week ahead.
We recommend weekly sessions where possible to maximize progress, however I appreciate that this might not always be possible. Please contact me to discuss your circumstances and I will do my best to accommodate you.
